Psalm
103:1-5
David
is bursting forth with praise in this Psalm for the many blessings of the Lord.
The verse that stands out to me is verse 3: “who
forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases,”[1]
I want to focus on the blessing of forgiveness. David
knew what it what to sin – miserably! He knew what it was to be forgiven
totally. He came through the
confrontation of a prophet and the Old Testament sacrificial system (looking
ahead to Christ). We come through the
blood of Jesus shed on the cross on our behalf. We also know the ministry of
the completed Word of God. Yes there maybe consequences; there were in
David’s life. But we can always rejoice
in the restored relationship with our God and our Savior. I’m so glad that relationship is mine. With
David I can say “Bless the Lord O my
soul!”
